My Testimony
George Smith, a follower of Jesus Christ!
No that doesn't mean I wear sandles with socks, sing hey nonny nonny and have a wardrobe full of tank tops, I hate socks!
My Testimony
I am originally from North Shields in Tyne and Wear or Northumberland as it was when I was born in the early sixties. I grew up in a very loving, close family with two younger brothers and a sister. The nearest I got to religion as a kid was going to Sunday school twice, once with the cub scouts when I was about 12, I didn't go back and once when I was about 14, I went with a girl I fancied. I almost got kicked out for spitting on the organist but never went back.
At school I remember singing hymns, well I remember the tunes never knew the words and I learnt the Lords prayer through saying it in assembly most days. I was given a bible in 1972 by the Gideons and for some strange reason I kept and treasured it, of course I never read it!
So that is as much as I knew about God, Jesus, Church etc.
I moved to Halifax in February 1985 and travelled back each weekend for a year until my wife and two little girls joined me and we bought a house in Luddenden Foot.
